What is a Protection Plan?

A Guardsman Protection Plan is a 5-year accidental damage policy that will cover you for some of the most common mishaps that can happen to your sofas, furniture, beds, or flooring. It is paid for by a one-off payment and there are no catches and no hidden surprises!

Why may I need a Furniture Protection Plan?

A Guardsman Protection Plan is essentially a no-excess insurance policy.

If you’ve spilt a drink on your lovely new sofa and the stain isn’t budging, or red wine has landed on your 3-year-old carpet; most people would start to think the absolute worse! However, if you have taken out a Guardsman Protection Policy at time of order, you can arrange a complimentary home visit where professionals will try to rectify the problem; if they can’t then they will arrange replacement parts, a full replacement, or a reselection! Just think what would you do if you didn’t have a Protection Plan…?

Guardsman Protection Plan – How does it work?

Whether you accidentally stain your seat cushion, chip your table, rip the arm of your sofa, or stain your carpet, Guardsman have you covered for 5 years.

  • A one-off payment covering you for 5 years protection against life’s little accidents, such as food or drink spills, and even accidental damage. There aren’t any excesses to pay or annual renewal costs.
  • When you have an accident, either login to the official Guardsman customer portal or call them using the telephone number on your plan certificate.

Remember, there are no excesses to pay or annual renewal costs.

  • Wherever possible, the network of expert guardsman repair technicians will always aim to repair the ‘damage’, or professionally clean any stain, on their first visit.
  • If the damage or stain can’t be repaired or cleaned, they’ll replace the damaged part, the specific item, or they’ll offer a cash settlement.
  • You can make a claim at any time throughout your plan. You can make as many claims as you need up to the indemnity value of your plan. (That’s the price you originally paid for your furniture or £15,000 (£25,000 for beds) whichever is the lowest).

So, what does it actually cover?

A lot, and certainly the biggest causes of damage to your furnishings!

  • All forms of accidental staining, including:
    • Drink e.g. tea & coffee, wine
    • Food e.g. curry & chocolate
    • Make-up
    • Human & bodily fluids
    • Ink, Adhesives, Oil based stains
    • Paint, bleaches and dye transfer e.g. from jeans (not as a result of a build-up)
  • Accidental damage, such as:
    • Tears and rips e.g. Caused by keys,
    • Burns e.g. Caused by candles, cigarettes, etc.
    • Scuffs and scratches (to covering leather)
    • Pet scratches (not as a result of build-up)
    • Thread pulls
  • Recliner Mechanism coverage includes:
    • Mechanism – Failure, breaking or bending
    • Electrical – Failure of control box, transformers and motor
    • Wires – Breakages & cuts
    • Switches – Breakage, jamming or failure

It is important to note that a Guardsman Protection Plan is not a substitute for regular care and cleaning. Guardsman will take care of the accidents, but the day-to-day care is down to you. As such, there are a few things which are not covered, including:

  1. General cleaning
  2. Wear and tear
  3. Odours
  4. Colour change
  5. Animal chewing & Animal damage that has allowed to accumulate
  6. Damage caused by perspiration
  7. Frame damage or softening of interiors, & Structural faults.
  8. Underlay & Fittings costs (for Floor coverings)

How do I buy a Guardsman Protection Plan?

Guardsman is most commonly purchased with the placing of your order, but can also be purchased at any point prior to delivery, i.e. during your waiting period from placing of order until your scheduled delivery date.

You can add the Guardsman protection plan to your order at checkout or before delivery of your goods. Just ask your sales person at point of sale or if you’re ordering online give us a call on 01343 813271 or email us at sales@grampianfurnishers.com and a member of our team will add it to your order for you.

Pricing varies per item – if your furniture hasn’t been delivered yet, get in touch with us and we may still be able to update your order to include a Protection Plan.

There are no excesses to pay! There are absolutely no hidden or surprise costs.

If the Guardsman technician is unable to remove the stain, then Guardsman will detailing additional options which will include sourcing a replacement part, replacing the item, or a cash settlement.

If a repair isn’t possible, and Guardsman are unable to source new parts, then they will discuss a replacement item or reselection.

Our Furniture Protection Plans are for new furniture only, that means renewals aren’t available.

Once you’ve completed the claim process either in the Guardsman Portal or over the telephone it can take up to 5 working days for Guardsman to assess your claim.
